I have a Marlin Glenfield 30-30 which is a slightly cheaper version of the 336. They made it cheaper by putting low quality rear sights and Beech stocks. Aside from that it is a full bore 336. I have the better quality rear sight and am going to replace it and am wondering if there are any tricks I should be aware of before I go at this and what is the best way to make sure it is centered? Doesnt look complicated but that doesnt mean much sometimes. I just figure it is not a gunsmith job:)

"...Marlin Glenfield 30-30...is a slightly cheaper version of the 336..." Yep. Any aftermarket 336 rear sight should fit. Is the receiver already drilled and tapped for a receiver sight?

Well, doesnt seem to be any magic involved-dovetailed in place and no screws. I just tapped it out and put the new one in. I am surprised that the height ramp just floats and is not attached to anything. Guess all I have to do now is take it out and centre it properly and I just happen to have a handful of reloads that will do nicely. This is the better sight by Marlin and yes, it is drilled and tapped so I might put another sight on it. I can shoot these iron sights so might not scope it but the aperture sight might work. Maybe see what I can swap for at the next HACS show. Thanks Sunray.
