I replaced my Marlin 925 trigger spring with lighter one and now find that there is a lot of of side to side play, too much for my liking (or anybodies) I tried adding a ground down 4mm (probably ground to 2-3mm) washer but would not fit. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix that?

Make a brass shim. Lee Valley Tools sells a sampler of 6 2" x 6" sheets of each thickness for $8.95. (0.001", 0.0015", 0.002", 0.003", 0.005" and 0.010") Cuts with regular tin snips(those cut anything scissors will do it too) and a nail will poke the hole. Nothing like high tech tools.

A shim doesn't absolutely have to be round and you may have to build it up a bit with a few layers.
If there's a Lee Valley store where you are, it's worth a look see. They carry all kinds of stuff. Good place to buy exotic wood blanks for making handgun grips. Not the least expensive place though.
