marlin xl7 any good?

okay guys i have been reading nothing but good reviews on these guns. whats your opinion? compared to say a savage 111/stevens 200

Had an XS7 in 7mm-08 and should have kept it. A very nice handling, well made, accurate rifle. Mine had the synthetic stock which was not too bad, but I upgraded to a Boyds laminate and then it was a really nice rifle. Whatever you do, do not buy an Axis as they are the antithesis of the above IMO.

axis isnt even something considered. i own savage 11s. cam accross a good deal on an xl7 camo

I have an XL7 in .25-06 with a Vortex scope.
I got my deer with it last year and it is very accurate.
At the range it will shoot within 1" at 100m all the time from a bench.
I would recommend one.
I think I got mine from Prophet River for a good price.

Nothing significant that is inherently wrong with either. Get the one that feels like it fits you better.

Agree 100%. I kick my ass for selling mine. I had one in 7mm08 and sold it because it was right handed and I am a lefty. I had a stevens 200 at the same time in 223 and like the marlin more.

I have an XS7 in 243.
It is a very good shooting iron for the price.
Buy the XL7 and enjoy.

I was debating on whether to get the XL7 .308 or the Savage 111 .308.


Went for the Savage, only because I wanted a detachable magazine, don't like the blind mag.
