Marlin XT-22 Mag accuracy

Hi Everyone, I purchased a .22 mag Marlin XT-22 and was wondering what I should expect for accuracy with 5 shot group sizes at 100 yards.
I plan to use the gun for foxes within 100 yards and basic plinking targets at 50-100 yards.

My best group is about 1.5 inches and other ammo it does not like I get 2 inches plus.

Wondering if this is everage performance, I now this may be not bad for a rimfire.

What can your .22 mags group at 100 yards?

I own the XT-MSVR ( magnum stainless varmint rimfire ). I have tried out various ammo and have found it likes Winchester 34JHP which I can't seem to ever find anymore. I'm going to try out some other ammo shortly and see if it will eat it.

What scope do you have on it? Right now I have an el-cheapo Tasco 3x9x40 which I'm planning on changing out to a Nikon or Vortex.

The ammo is your limiting factor, not the gun. 1.5" at 100 is about as good as it gets

The hornady 30grn and cci maxi mag shot well in mine. Both about 1.5 to 2 inches.

If you want to shoot for groups at 100 yards, you might be somewhat limited by your scope. On the other hand, .22 mag is not available in match ammo quality and the result is that MOA results are not common. If you get less than 2" groups that will be good.

Right around the 1" at 100 yards is mine with Hornady Vmax 30 grn ammo. Easy hitting something at 175 yards, like crows.
