Hey Guys,
We've had a few clients asking us our position on the CSAAA, and one client suggested we make a public statement so that there's a public record of our position.
We first joined the CSAAA in November 2019 after the change of ownership. We were primarily interested in working with the CSAAA in developing a recognized Canadian Gunsmithing Certification Program in order to start pushing Gunsmith as a recognizable trade. We set our account up for auto renewal and let it run.
The recent announcement of the CSAAA working with the Federal Government to begin the buyback process for the OIC'd rifles was done without our consultation, and we will not support any organization that does not, first and foremost, stand up for the Firearms Rights of Individual Canadians to enjoy their property safely and responsibly. Our business is built on individuals, customer service, and building loyalty and relationships. Without individuals, our businesses will not exist.
Since this announcement, we've been asking many questions of the CSAAA to find out who (and whom they represent) was consulted prior to making this decision, the minutes of any relevant meetings, and copies of the contract they signed with the Federal Gov't. To date, the answers we've received have been poor, lacklustre, and frankly not useful.
We feel that a good faith sign from the CSAAA in cooperating (even in principle) with the buyback weakens our position as gun owners and shows a dis-unified front. Solidarity is key in our fight against these laws. We must present as a unified group of Canada's most responsible citizens.
Those of you who've spoken with me personally will likely have heard me say, when my shift is over at Marstar, that I'm part of the same community as you are. We will not stand with an organization who's taking money from the government in order to weaken our collective position, and we will not be voluntarily or prematurely be turning in any firearms to any government body until it becomes a legal requirement.
We've cancelled our membership effective immediately, and have cancelled our auto-renew. We will not stand with the CSAAA or profit through cooperation with the Governments attempts to disarm our fellow Canadians, and we never will.
-Payam
