Marstar has a new scope mount for the M14

Well, took the M305 to the range again with Loctite on the screws. I think the scope is definitely the limiting factor here. A different zero every time I picked up the rifle. It shot well around that zero, but like I said, every time it would shoot at a different part of the target. Maybe I'll get one of those Bushnell 3200 10x40 scopes.

Mine arrived today, and I was impressed at it's appearence. It's a massive chunk of metal.

Installation was easy thanks to agit props post on this thread. No directions come with the mount.

By far the worst part of the installation process was getting that effing stripper guide out. This required a lot of VERY hard hammering and the potential to negligently hit the rifle with a hammer was very high.

Anyway, it's on, and I will be taking it out to the range tomorrow to sight it in. I have a Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40mm on it.

Range report.

Sighting in did not go well. Mount loosened up after only 2 3 shot groups.

Currently re installing using a very large quantity of loc tite and much profanity.

Ok......haven't posted much advice in the last year.....but here it goes.

I've given 'Peter' a lot of my $ in the last few years, so I won't just say aluminum sucks butt.

Read my post about mounts.

This new mount looks nice, very close to SA 3rd gen mount.
The secret to the SA mount was all in the 'precision alignment tool' aka The hammer. The aluminum needs to mate with steel just right.....tighter the better. Add a dab of blue loctite and you're fine, actually I put about 10k down the barrel of one M305/sa gen 3.....it never, EVER MOVED>

My main complaint was the mounts sky high rail, looks to be the same with the new Canadian mount. Back then I went the now 'old' style arms, now only SEI products for me. not as low as arms.....not as high as SA.

So what I'm getting at.....mount that mount just right.....it should treat you OK for paper and then some. If your wanting a tack driver....you might just have to spend the extra on a steel mount.

That's all I have to say about that.
