I bought it for a spare for my crossbow, after sitting on the shelf for several months I mounted it on my 12g slug gun. After 5 sabots the flip-up lens covers dissapeared and the brightness control knob was loose. The worst part was the reticle turned from a crisp dot to fuzzy. I might have the only lemon, I don't know. Still have it, can't use it, should send it back for an exchange.

All the scopes you mention are Leapers scopes. Contact them ( www.leapers.com ) and tell them what your looking for and what you want to do with it.

Never having fired a 12 ga. with slugs; but having a friend who has and listening to his description of the shoot, I figure that's probably a fairly brutal recoil. I don't think an AR-15 is quite as bad.

AR15 isn't any where near close to the 12 guage slug in terms of recoil.

I've been thinking of picking up an OPT-030 for the AR180B. The Eotech is great, but I'd like some magnification for those far out gopher shots

If you purchased a Leapers optic from us and have an issue with it please contact us directly for further details. There is a limited lifetime warranty on all Leapers optics.

If you didn't purchase your Leapers optic from us please address your concerns to the store where you purchased it. They should be able to help you as well.

I have a holo sight similar to the one Marstar sells, inexpensive Chinese made one. It works okay. I put it on my 10/22 for a while and now I'm planning on putting it on an AR if I ever get one.

I've been searching for an inexpensive scope to put on my AR15 (flattop 16") for service rifle matches, that fill these criterias:
- at least 4x or more
- mildot or ballistic reticule for bullet drop estimation
- large wind./elev. knobs that are finger- and click-adjustable (not with a coin, no caps to remove)
- price range: less than 300 $ (i'm a university student, hence no funds for a Leupold MR/T mark 4, unfortunately :( )

Here's the choices:
http://www.marstar.ca/optics/OPT-204.htm
http://www.marstar.ca/optics/OPT-018.htm (i don't think the turrets are finger-adjustable.. ? but it has mildot reticule)
http://www.marstar.ca/optics/OPT-010.htm
http://www.marstar.ca/Optics/OPT-030.htm (does this one have BDC ?)

Another related question; how would these compare with Bushnell or Burris mildot scopes in a similar price range, regarding mechanical toughness(turrets/reticule), waterproofing and light transmission ?

I have the OPT-030, and I quite like it.

It's a mil-dot scope, and the knobs are not finger adjustable... you need a coin.

I've used both mounts, the carry handle and the flattop rail mount, and both hold zero on a .223 with no problems. I've never really used the illumination feature in the field, but it does work quite well in the basement!

Truth be told, you can find it WAY cheaper than Marstar sells it down in the states, but I bought mine from Marstar for the warranty. Like I said, never had problems with it yet, and it seems well made for a Leapers! Doesn't say Leapers on it anywhere either, so thats good... :)

It's called the SCP-T168 in the states... do a search and you'll find a bunch of reviews and places to purchase.

Give Lever Arms a call, though they don't stand behind their products quite like Marstar does.
