A friend of mine just picked up a martini Enfield and sent me some pics to see if I could find out anything about it. It's 37.5" long and the barrel is 21, It seems interesting but i can`t find much info. Maybe someone here can help.
This is not a question of value because he`s not a person to sell a gun. It also has a broken firing pin and any info on where to find one would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. G

Well, it certainly one that I've never seen. Obviously converted to shotgun, but of what sort I don't know for sure. I wonder if the numbers '2670' could mean 26 bore, 70 mm case length, but I really don't know.

Martini Enfield Artillery Carbine MkII
NOT FOR BALL when they became obsolete they were issued to cadet corps and not meant to be fired
.C double arrow C shows sale mark to cadet corps.

Cadet training rifle. Still in 303 Brit. Not a shotgun.

The firing pin and even the whole block are available. Marstar used to sell the parts and maybe Tradex still has some. Western Gun Parts might have them also. I know that Sarco, Numrich and AIM have them but not sure if they will be allowed to ship them to Canada.

The barrel on that rifle is stamped E for Enfield rifling, which means Cordite propellant capable.

It is in pretty rough shape. Not a lot of value there and it also looks like someone wire wheeled the finish from it.

Nice little rifle. Kick like mules but it would still be worth rebuilding.

I've one in about twice the condition; lesser condition on the wood, better on the metal end.
As far as recoil; I never ran factory fodder, we had a LE JC...enough of that nonsense. Just reloaded with light bullets and fast powder, no problems.

I have a very similar one, but mines a commercial model with no enfield stampings on the side. Due to its light weight and slim profile my grandfather used it as a saddle gun while ranching in BC just after the war. Fun rifle to shoot but like Bearhunter says they kick like a mule with that steel buttplate and a decent load.
Mine only shoots moderate cast bullet loads and is just used as a range plinker while I'm waiting for other rifles to cool down.
