Martini....henry or medford.

Hey all. Definitely not a milsrp guy but bought a collection from an older gentleman getting out of shooting and hunting.
This Martini however crude and worn out just made me do more research on exactly what I have.
There is pitting and if it was stamped MK1 or what have, could figure but nothing..
I have a serial number of 404 and some proof marks but nothing else.

What ya think?

Being .303, it is either a Martini Metford or a Martini Enfield. Count the rifling grooves. 7 = Metford, 5 = Enfield.

Good point. As I recall, the Enfield rifled barrels of the time have an "E" stamped on the top of the knox. Metford rifling is often mistaken for shot out Enfield rifling.

Oh it's tight and feels like it would shoot fine. Have not shot yet.
Standard 303 British?
