Thought I’d share what my father in-law found, a real beauty of a first rifle for my daughter. A very well built martini actioned .22LR very pretty little gun. Heavy contoured octagon barrel, very nice checkering and a smooth lock action. A great tiny package. I think it will make for a heirloom first rifle. A little clean up and it will be perfect.

I have this one as well in 22 lr a J Venables and Son Francotte Martini that was retailed in England but made in Belgium. It has a 26 inch ovate barrel with full matted rib and express rear sights.Take down lever on the side removes the action from the receiver. The greener has a takedown barrel. Both guns balance beautifully and are a joy to carry and shoot.Your martini was made in Belgium as well

Nice find!
- It's kind of weird how the top of the action shows the barrel going all the way to the breach face. The barrel is held in place by thread of the sides and bottom of the action?
Do you have any pictures of the top of the action and barrel marking?

Curious mind is wondering about all the leather rolled up?

A few days ago someone posted picture of some thing they thought was a cool rimfire and i guess it was because it nearly stopped my blood from flowing. mctrigers Martini's is so cool it gives me the warm and fuzzies. I don't mean to belittle the fellows that like that other firearm but mctrigger's Martini is how a real rifle should look. But that's just me.

I’ve owned many and like them all. They have all been accurate. From the small sportier to the Olympic. As my eyes went for crap I went to scopes. Still miss the martini 22s. Have a couple in 577-450 left. Watch for the small rook rifles, they have all been fine guns well made. Congratulations.

I was wondering how they attached the barrel to the receiver on that one.

Yeah, me too.

I was pretty sure they must have cantilevered a support under the hand guard, from the 'extra' rivets above the trigger guard, but it's nice to see the actual set-up!

Lots and lots of variations on the theme, among the Belgians and the German makers. Fewer in the British, but still one or three major variations, as far as the locally built stuff goes.

AFAIK, the BSA version of the small Martini pretty much ruled the roost in GB, but there were a couple other variants that were out there, plus the many that were imported and modified for home sales, either as Rook Rifles or otherwise.
