Does anyone know a dealer who has this in stock. W.S. catalogues it but has ben out of stock for months and my back order does not seem any more likely to come. Want to do some indoor winter casting. Thanks all.

I use a number of things to flux outdoors including waxes and sawdust and wooden stir sticks. Marvelux is supposed to work with zero smoke and minimal odor which is what I need for winter as I have no basement work shop ventilation and a raft of smoke detectors scattered throughout the house which I don't want to deal with.

Marvelux will smoke and will burst into flame. Save your self the money go to your local grocery store and buy a box of borax, cheap works excellent for fuxing, washing clothes and other miscellaneous household chores. Have read about everything from a slice of potato, sawdust, beeswax, tallow, lard.
Ken.

kodiak1; my experience with it is totally different than yours- it didn't smoke, didn't flame and was basically odorless. Just as it was and still is advertised. Wonder why the different result?

I've used borax in the past but had some problems with pot glazing and clogging of the bottom drop spout. May have to use it again regardless.

Folks must be using it differently than I, Marvellux works great and is avail. from Mid South Shooters Supply and is quite reasonable, I have never heard of it smoking, smelling, or bursting into flame, we use it exclusively in our business, some of the others may work okay for bottom pour(borax, sawdust) but definately not for ladle use, which is what we prefer. Borax forms a skim on the surface of the melt which keeps oxygen from melt thus preventing dross from forming, however you break that seal when you add lead or tin or ladle, and acts like glue in that instance, beeswax works but should be burned off if it doesn't do it on its own. Marvellux is probably your best bet.

Thanks Ben. I had hoped to find a source in Canada but it looks like it'll be quicker to just call Mid South.

Marvelux works well when used in very small quantities. However, it is hydroscopic and can junk up your pot, which is why I quit using it.

Carnuba wax works very well, requires very little to do its' job, doesn't smoke, and best of all is not hydroscopic. Flaked carnuba wax is NEI's "secret flux". I have about a pound of flaked carnuba wax, and it will probably last me the rest of my life. NEI will sell you the stuff relatively cheaply - or you can find somebody who supplies the fine woodworking hobby/industry. Lee Valley might have it for all I know.
