Yes, they did. A number of 49/56 came over. I believe a few but not many 49's are in Canada.

I owned a 49/56. Interesting rifle.

I've seen more '49's in Canada than '49-56. Most are Syrian. I bought and sold one here on the EE a few years ago.

Sledge had one with the sniper optic for sale here recently. Don't know if he still has it.

The ammo for them is a bit expensive,,,only found it available at Tradex,,and when you add shipping,,not cheap,,so reloading is the way to go. Fun rifle though,,mine is bang on accurate.
