Does anyone know if the French semi-auto MAS 49-56 is a non-restricted rifle?

Also can anyone tell me if they are common, their average value and if they are commonly found converted in 7.62 NATO?

Unrestricted, although there were experimental French military selective fire models.

Very uncommon - just weren't many released by France when the Canadian border was open to imports. JP in Sherbrooke once told me he knew of only 12 that snuck into the old International Firearms in a case of Syrian contract MAS49s.

In the US yes, in Canada not likely. The French 7.5 ammo is almost impossible to find, but an original rifle is more valuable than a shooter.
