Mas 49/59

Good day all,

Am in the search for a MAS 49/59, got a pretty good deal on a APX scope and am having problems scrounging up brass for the bad boy. Was curious how many out there have a 49/59 and if so who has slugged there barel? Also wondering what bullet weight this beast is going to like? I have some original 7.5 for the FRF1 but this is fairly rare stuff and would hate to blast it off shooting gongs.

oh ya anyone got a leed on a 49/59 give us a shout.

I guess it will be in the .308-309" range and a 150 gr. spitzer would do great in it sitting on top of some Bl-C2 or other medium burn rate powder.
I'll try to find my stash of clean surplus ammo and take one apart, just to see.

I have a 49/56 which shoots like a house on fire with Syrian. I have some PP which I'm saving to use when I mount my APX scope.

As far as I am aware standard 7.62 bullets will work. Beware of the Syrian surplus ammo. My friend who has one of these gets a lot of misfires and hangfires. The Privi stuff is good if you can find it.......
