Rare gun in Canada only a few hundred ever imported, Mas 49/56 ever rarer only a couple of dozens of that one.

Ya. Selling those 3 rifles and my M38A1 jeep was the worst part of my divorce lol. But I have the memories.........ohhhhhh the memories damn fine rifles they are, they were impressive.

it is interesting how the mag is retained/released, and my recent FFL interest has led me to these. what happened to the other quarter million made? scrapped? sold to french citizens? sent to the US?

Buy the book "Proud Promise" by Jean Huon if you're wanting to go down that path. I was told when I wanted to get into them that it was going to be impossible to find them. I did it in less than a year.

Some were exported to the USA, the rest melted down for scrap a few years ago. We did the same with our FN also unfortunately.
