Anyone else here reload to just make factory loads for plinking?

THis year alone we have made over 4000 rounds in varying calibres mainly 308 and 8mm but we dont custom load we copy Military OAL and Loads overall as close as possible but of course using different powders. But then again we fire our ammunition in dozens of types of rifles so we cant just load for 1 certain rifle since the ammo is allotted and loaded when at the range to all shooters.

Cant count the amount of Surplus we go through anymore tho lol

But anyone know if hornady is gonna release any more FMJ to canada in new shipments looking dry out there lately some here and there.

I make lots of "plinking" .223 year round. I just picked up a box of 6000 Hdy 55gr FMJs, so should be set for a few weeks at least.

Hornady isn't holding back bullets; they don't have to "release" it to the Canadian market. Canadian importers place orders, the manufacturers or wholesalers fill them as they come (some fill domestic orders first and put off international ones for when they have spare time), and the orders get to Canada. Those orders are distributed to retailers by the importers and those retailers sell to us. Some retailers import their own as well.

FMJ bullets are relatively inexpensive and popular for milsurp rifles so are hot sellers. Most manufacturers are backordered as is so everything is backed up because the source is backed up.

Your best bet is to contact a major retailer that sells Hornady bullets and see if you can get an ETA on their next shipment or see if you can place a custom order for a bulk amount of bullets. Of course if you go with the latter it could be a while before the order gets filled and shipped to Canada from the US because of the backorders. The retailer can hopefully give you an ETA.

Budget Shooter Supply is showing 1000 round lots of .308" 150gr FMJ/BT as in stock for $260. Hornady doesn't make an 8mm FMJ. Mystic Precision should be able to get you PRVI 8mm 198gr FMJ bullets but they don't have anything listed on their site.

I have tried contact Mystic it seems to be a hit or miss if u get a response. I do deal with Budget but entirely forgot about them regarding Bullets ....Hornady Discontinued 8mm FMJ earlier this year sadly

You could try TradeEx for the PRVI bullets. They are showing out of stock but you could contact them and see about doing a bulk order. The shipping will probably be more since they are in Ontario.

Ditto. Ordered from Brownells and did all the import paperwork myself. Easy, and after everything I saved about $100 compared to buying that volume here. Which I tried to do, actually, but stock didn't exist.

I can vouch for Mystic Precision, I have Never had a message go unanswered. Sometimes I email at 9-10pm and get a response back within mins, I have felt bad for Jerry coz I probably disturbed him during his bed time more than once.

I think Budget is closed for summer.

Never had a question go without answer from Mystic, the longest was a whole 16 hours I think!
He might be at a match, so give him a couple days if you have not heard back!

I think budget shooters is on break for a month or so still, I would check his site before getting your hopes up!

Edit*Guess I scrolled too fast, didnt see mystic already respond lol
Anyways, great guy to deal with!
