Hey guys I have started to get into the long range shooting. My question to you guys is whats a really good factory match ammo? I have been using Hornady superfomance 308 seems like good stuff but 50$ for 20 rounds seems like alot. I guess another question would be is this the price point i should expect? Thanks guys

Start reloading. If you are going to shoot a lot, it's the only option. Most retailers don't generally stock an awful lot of any particular match ammo (the price is definitely a deterrent ), so unless you buy a case, you may find that obtaining it on a regular basis can be difficult. At that price, 2 or three sessions will pay for your gear

Hornady match ammo can be bought in 50 round boxes for $60 on the ammo source. its pointed hollow points but i like it. i use them regularly. or try winchester white boxed ammo. Winchester white boxed ammo is consistent and clean.

Hey thanks guys Iam leaning towards re-loading just worried about f*&?ing up and something going wrong...i know newbies eh

No worries, you will #### up reloading. You will crush cases, dent cases with too much lube, seat primers in backwards, crush primers in sideways, seat bullets too deep, not resize your brass enough to chamber and a whole host of other #### ups. Not to worry though, everyone that has cranked a press handle enough times has done it all before and not just once.

If you are getting into long range shooting you will need to get into reloading unless you have very deep pockets. In the mean time look for some Lapua match ammo or Hornady TAP.

reloading is easy, yet there are challenges here and there, just read, read, and read everything possible, then jump in buy a good scale and a basic single stage press and dies and get started. Just keep it all very organized and check and double check then load away and check for pressure signs. Once you work up a peticular load, stick with it, and dont mix anything up when loading, only have powder on your bench you are using at that minute.

I don't have the patience for reloading precision rifle ammo.
(I get bored pumping out 2000 rounds an hour of pistol on my souped up 1050) so I bought Lapua ammo. It's excellent.
The stuff I got was "aficionado". It may be another name now. Hirsch Precision in Nova Scotia.

"...just worried about f*&?ing up and..." Reloading is not rocket science. If you can read and make toast, you can reload without any fuss.
"...really good factory match ammo..." No factory ammo will ever be as accurate in your rifle as ammo that was tailored for that rifle. Loading good match grade ammo is a bit persnickity but only due to the techniques required.
"...Hornady Superfomance..." That's hunting ammo. Isn't match grade ammo. A lot of Hornady's stuff isn't being made due to the high demand Stateside, caused by King Obama's gang, too.

I have shot some RUAG match ammo at Bisley, it is very good ammo but I don't know if anyone imports it into Canada for retail. The Canadian Cadets Marksmanship program also shoots RUAG and they post some pretty impressive scores with it. Another one is HPS ammo out of the UK. Shot this down in Barbados and it also shot very well. I managed a 50.7V at 900 yards with it in a team match shooting on ICFRA targets. (but I have to give my coach most of the credit for this) I would shoot either RUAG or HPS if I could buy it as cheap as I can make handloads.
