What do you guys think the appropriate wait time should be for IPSC match results. Is posted results within 3-4 days unreasonable?

Eric,
results must be posted as soon as possible and match is not complete till results are not posted.

Take care

I'd say no more than a couple hours after the match is finished. Anything longer is just stupid.

Bear in mind the poor stats guy (or gal) is crunching all those numbers for the love of the sport and nothing else......

I would say for a local club match where the stats get done after the match is over a couple of days would be about 'normal' for a wait. Bigger matches with stats going on real time the results are out within a couple of hours of the match finishing.

As one of the poor stats people that do it for the love of the sport, you'll get them when I'm darn well ready to do them :)

5 stages 30 shooters can take over 1 hour to enter the scores, especially if people have poor handwriting or score keepers make mistakes and you spend 2 minutes figuring out how their correction works

So if all the scoring is done after the match you'll get it the next day usually, maybe 2 days if there's something else going on (I love shooting multiple matches)

I agree with Para dont talk the talk till you walk the walk, setting up and tearing down, patching and ROing matches usually include the stats guy as well. I see a lot of matches were people come shoot say thank you and good bye. Next match offer some help to the folks that host the matches and results may happen sooner than expected.V:I:

I have talked and walked.
It just takes a little organization.
You just have to build a team around you so that it is not on just one person to set up, RO, Tear down and do stats.
If you are doing all that, then my hats off to you.

Oh we have a good crew and everyone pitches in, my point is, its usually the gun and run guys that complain how slow results come out, if ya get my drift.

Dear Match organizers, please understand one thing. Results are part of the match.
Organizing a match takes an efort and club sucrifies their time for others, true, however shooter is charge a match fee and under match fee he/she expects to receive results promptly.
John when he was running matches in Barrie and they were LI events had results ready right after match. Last squad stay bit longer and helped with cleaning up while a statistician were entering the scores.

I am in agreement Peter! It drives me nuts waiting 3,4, sometimes 5 days for results.....if there is a major malfunction with a computer, or some other such thing, medical etc., I can make allowances.....other than that, the results should be out within a few hours of completion.

What other sport would it be fine to have results posted the next day?

At our matches here in Manitoba results are posted within half hour of completion of the match, everybody is given fair time for review, then teardown is done by everybody, THEN trophies are handed out. They are usually posted to our website within 2-3 days.

In Alberta match results are posted between 30 and 60 minutes after the last shot is fired. results sheets are available after awards. results are published on line one to three days after the match. however in most cases the stats guy has to drive between one and ten hours to get to a match so sometimes it takes a few days for him to get rested up after a match to get them up.

Yeah I've never understood Ontario and the numerous days wait for results. If you've got people doing stats as part of the "work" portion of a march, results should be done within 1 hour easy.
