Hi!

Do you like your Matech sight? Is it good? I know US Army use it, so it is not ####. In addition I will not shoot often over 100M... Maybe it is not the best sight for me. I don't saw number under 200m.

They're pretty cool sights. Not a necessity if 99% of your shooting is through glass optics. If you zero your AR15 rifle at 50yrds using M855 ammo, it should be pretty close to, if not on zero elevation at the 200yrd.

I have one and think it is a piece of sh!t.
Much better sights on the market. I prefer the KAC micros but Troys are decent too.
I think the Magpuls offer a decent option for low dollars (although I've never used them), based on reviews.

So I leave the sight at 200 and zero it at 50M...??? The sight will be use with a 14 inches barrel is it changing anything. If you zero it at 200M, when you shot at 100M the bullets trajectory will be off by 1 or 2 inches?

I can also put on the rifle a set of HK416 sights. I'm hesitating between them and a matech.

Thank you for our help

But the Magpul do not have a elevation ajustment like the matech and the HK. Does it mean it is not possible to shoot over 200M???

Technically, yeah. This chart shows from a 16" barrel and it's more like 50/220.

That means you will need to use a tool to adjust the height of your front sight. If you got the coin, I'd go with the KAC micros myself.

How so? Not trying to be cheeky, just curious as to why they're crap?

Good question.

I like the concept, but not the execution.
- they have placed the windage adjustment at the rear (front and centre for the shooter) when the elevation adjustment should be more prominently featured.
- the toggle for the elevation adjustment is grooved for a detent that 'clicks' with each set distance - good idea, but it easily becomes non-functional with a bit of dirt, sand or snow/ice. I'm not sure why they went with a toggle over a knob, presumably to differentiate with the windage adjustments? In any event in my experience with sights of this nature, it is a set-it and forget-it affair and the shooter uses Hold offs for wind and moving targets.
- the aperture arm is spring loaded that is held down in the closed position with a detent. In the open position it relies on the spring pressure alone to ensure it is fully open and extended. They should have used another detent?

Other than that it is ok. I guess the issues I have with it are really just pet peeves.
Come to think of it, I have pet peeves about the adjustable KAC sights and the Troys too, just less of them....
