The bear fighting thread made me think, I took a one day trip from Calgary to the Khutzemateen Grizzly sanctuary last year, We left Calgary at 7:30, were in Prince Rupert by 9:00 and back in Calgary by 9:30 that night. Not something you get to see every day, even Brian Keating claimed it was a new experience for him. The bears were on the shoreline feeding on greens the off color is thanks to a problem with my camera, sorry. A 1400. day. :ROFLMAO:

Had the pleasure of watching a pair in the act in their home setting
The first year I guided, backpacking for Dalls in the NWT

We were set up for the night just making dinnerand saw two bears enter the picture across the valley so out came the spotter
Big boar seemed twice the size of the sow, he followed close and pawed her a while before she succumbed to his charms

When he finally got a good grip and they locked together, they were at it for 17 minutes, yes we timed it
She started getting squeamish and tried to pull away, then finally pulled free and headed up over the mountain, fast,
thinking back to her cub maybe or just had enough and had to get outta dodge

The old boy was slow to get moving, but he ambled up after her, following her exact path but at a whole lot slower pace
We imagined he was tuckered but had a smile on

One of my hunting partners in Saskatchewan was walking the community pasture and comes over the top of a hill. A buck and doe were en flagrant délit. He'd hunted a lot but never seen this sight. He waits til the buck gets through, and then he shoots the doe. He had a doe tag and it was getting late. We always asked if the venison tasted any different.
