I just finished this stock in a matte clearcoat. I used an automotive urethane enamel with added flattening agent. It's catalyzed so it cures hard and should be a long lasting finish. The high solids clearcoat fills all the pores and woodgrain. It's hard to really see it in the pictures, but I think it's a nice finish for those who don't want the high gloss.
