Good evening friends,

I spent most of my life working for a large Canadian corporation, retired for the first time in 97 and started my own computer-oriented business which I worked at happily for ten years. I sold the only home I have ever owned and became a full-time RVer three years ago. Our lifestyle allows us six months in Ontario and the winter where ever we want to be.

We wintered this past year in Texas. I arrived there decidedly anti-gun, got hooked up with a Texan neighbor and spent the winter playing with his fleet of handguns and those that I could rent at the local range. I am thoroughly hooked. I got back here in May, joined a club, challenged the tests, took a couple of courses, bought a Sig X-Five and a Sig 226 Equinox and and spent a few $$$ on accessories. My application is in Miramiche now and so I have a lot of gun toys, books and CD's but still no guns! :( I hope to have everything worked out so that I can take my hardware to Arizona this winter where I have already registered for several competitions.

I'm a big believer in Internet Forums and am happy to be a member of CGN.

Thanks for the links! I love Vancouver but hate the rain. Casa Grande will be home this winter. I plan to shoot at the Scottsdale Club.

Yes - Vancouver is wonderful the rest of the year. I have friends in NM, AZ and TX and am looking for a place to call home at some point.

Maybe NM or in Northern AZ. Texas would be good but I like to visit mostly and might live there when much older (late 30's) now.

cjs,
There is a time for everything. I had a good position with CN Hotels in the 80's and just loved working in Van and at the other hotels we had out west including Jasper Park Lodge. I'm told that Arizona is similar to Texas in one delightful respect. Texans are the nicest and friendly people I have ever encountered. Part of me will always be in Tx now. I had friends in NM that went for two years and stayed nine. The SGC is supposed to be very high-end as are many places in Scottsdale. I still have research to do but will get an AR hunting licence. The possibility of open carry just for the hell of it would be a hoot!

I find Texans super friendly as well - my company has two offices in Houston and San Antonio (we are based here in Vancouver) so I can work anywhere I want - some benefit of being a capitalist / highly motivated / business owner ;)

Wife travels a lot overseas for her career so the dog and I leave for months at a time :)

An RV is tempting since I could then go where I feel like it.

Welcome to CGN.

Have you ever been in to J&G gun store in Prescott Arizona ?
I was there a few years ago while on a visit. Nice store.

I have heard that the Scottsdale club is quite the place. Lots of marble etc.
