Mature Whitetail Footage From This Season – First Filmed Hunt

A great friend of mine wanted to get into whitetail hunting, so I set him up. After filling my tag, we spent the rest of the season in hopes of not only shooting his first buck, but filming it as well. Check it out in full HD!!!

I've never seen a deer act so nonchalant after being shot twice, especially in the heart. Even though it looks like the first shot was a complete miss, (especially since he continues to chew his cud) it was in fact confirmed as a lung shot.

Such a memorable hunt! Hoping to continue filming more hunts. Feedback is greatly appreciated!

Congratulations, nice buck and camera work there, if you could keep the foul language out of it you could show this on TV for sure. I really hope he plans to get amount done as this is a great first buck.

Great idea to wipe the blood off and tuck his tongue back into his mouth. Nice buck and great camera work. A little hard to suggest that "F" bomb was "fuddle duck". Wild TV will be able to dub that out.

Am I mistaken or was there not 3 shots, the first being a miss, the second a hit and the third a hit that put him down. What was he using for a rifle. Nice first buck and looked like a great first experience. He was pretty cool under pressure.

I agree; shot one missed, shot two made him jump, indicating a heart shot, shot 3 may well have exited, whole or in part, through the lungs / rib cage......

Congrats to your buddy for taking his first deer and beauty of a buck to boot! Good for you getting him out there and well done getting it filmed. I'd be dropping f bombs like an sob!

We both thought that the first shot was a miss as well, but upon skinning the buck later, we found three bullet holes. Since the second shot was a definite hear-shot, and the third shot drilled him in the front right shoulder, we deduced the first shot was just a bit high and back of the lungs. Not high enough to hit the spine and not far enough back that it hit the diaphragm or guts; literally the worst shot possible, it went completely through, only tearing skin! It's crazy because you can see him continue chewing his cud after that bullet passed right through. I still can't believe it, but there were definitely three bullet holes.

He was using my rifle, which he had practiced with lots before: Tikka T3 lite stainless 30-06 left hand, with Leupold Canadian 3-9X40mm w/CDS

Still new to video editing. I have since discovered how to "bleep" out audio. I helped him to do a euro mount of it, looks great.
