Has any one shot in Maui?
We were in Maui a couple of years ago vacationing and emailed the club to inquire about my wife and I doing some shooting but the proprietor had just closed the course for a couple's weeks holiday so we didn't get to go. My brother in law had shot there a month before we got there and said it was fun but a bit pricey so I wasn't expecting any deals but I like to shoot different courses in my travels so I kept it in mind for another time. Well we were back there this winter and I emailed the club again but was referred to a tour company, seems they are doing all the booking through them now. Upon further investigation I found out that they charge $150 US for 50 targets, 50 shells, instruction, a gun rental and transportation from south Kikei and back. I envisioned us being picked up by a bus load of people who have never shot a gun before and herded out to the course for a measly 50 targets so we declined to go.
I had envisioned us being able to just drive out to the club, rent a couple of guns and shoot at least 100 targets just like I've done in a lot of other places but this club has turned into a tourist attraction that my instincts tell me that I want nothing to do with! I'm also disappointed with not being able to shoot there because it looks like a really neat course, it's built into an old volcano and is visible from highway 31 in a couple of places, it looks like there are shooting stations all around the rim of the crater as well as maybe some down inside, very cool! Price wise though, $150 USD for 50 targets is not worth it for me to be able to say I shot the course when that translates into over $200 CDN which will buy me one heck of a lot more targets at home!
