Yep those are a pair. Use the same ammo even! Do the serial numbers match?

Seriously, you won't be able to buy enough ammo to shoot the 11mm. There might be places in the US to get loaded shells but it will be a challenge in Canada.
On the other hand its only moderately rare and you should be able to get reloading stuff for it from Buffalo Arms or similar places. Its a lot easier to import things like brass, dies and bullet molds than bullets or ammo.

'Sporterized' Model 1871/1884 Mauser rifle (Infanterie-Gewehr Modell 71/84).

The original Model 1871 was a single shot rifle (and would thus be an 'antique' in Canada, not subject to registration.)
The 1884 variation has an added tube magazine, making it a repeater and (thus not an 'antique' .... )

Here is some info, including pics of what it looked like before Bubba got to it ....

Lee-Precision make an inexpensive set of reloading dies for this cartridge, by the way .... second from the bottom in the "Pacesetter Dies" list on this page -
http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1215987848.3684=/html/catalog/dies-rifle.html

I have both a Mod.71 carbine and a Mod.71/84 rifle (both also sporterized .... :( ), brass, a set of dies, etc. - but have never got around to doing anything with them. (Too many toys, too little time ..... SIGH  )

Hope that helps ... :)

is it worth me shooting this dominion full box of ammo or better to collect it? thanks for all the help guys. if so if I am not into reloading yet is there anywhere in canada to get more?

If you want to shoot the gun, and you don't shoot that ammo, what will you use?

The fired brass is worth about $0.75 each and can be used many times with light loads.
