Nice Danzig!
The markings on the bottom of the barrel are worker and proof markings and relate to the type of work performed on the rifle. Sadly, their meanings have been lost to history.
The marking on the butt plate tang is a unit marking and it reads:
7th Infantry regiment replacement battalion, 2nd company, weapon # 32.
With the proper references you can track down where the regiment was originally stationed. One book I know of that can tell you is and has been out of print for a while now.
From what I understand, replacement battalions were where the recruits were sent after training at their respective recruit depots. Recruits would be assigned to their appropriate infantry regiments after passing through the replacement battalions.
