Mauser 7.92x57JS

I guess we're all looking for 8mm... I fear our mauser have joined the .303 British chambered guns in the safe...

Yep, its in 303 category. Look for 8mm Mauser, instead. When you ask for 7.92x57, you can see guys at the counter, get anxious as they struggle to comprehend what you are looking for.
7.92x57 is easy to reload, and its the way to go if you want to shoot your k98 frequently.
My Hakim is always hungry lol.

Occasionally 8mm surplus comes up for sale, grab it the second you see it. S&B makes new 8mm rounds and the brass is good quality for reloading. I've also ordered good quality Norma brass to suite my loading and hunting needs. I don't see what the problem here is.

I am lucky as I could see the shortage coming up in the future so I stocked up on 8mm and 303. you would be surprised how quick a belt of ammo goes through a mg34 when you are having fun. I stocked up on 3000 rds of 8mm and I have almost the same amount of 303. casting is a lot cheaper as finding the bullets is getting difficult and expensive.

I am somewhat mystified here as well...I can't walk in a LGS without tripping over bullets and brass for 8mm and along with S&B the fine folks at PPU make a variety of ammunition for that calibre.

I forgot about PPU, its really good brass as well. I have some of that too.

I guess now they know if they look, they can find some.

I'll take PPU over almost every company if only for the brass.

I sure hope we see some surplus again.

I suspect we'll see a large cache of surplus 8mm about the same time a flood of surplus Garands flow out of South Korea or Greeks announce they do actually have millions of rounds of .303 British laying around in some caves.

Surplus 8mm and .303 is available only if you live in the USA, NRCAN has not permitted any to be imported into Canada for awhile now, not even ex-Canadian made .303 surplus like this that was selling until recently in the USA -

Or this Pakistan made .303 -

Or even this 1980's FN made .303 -

Bulk Greek .303 surplus from the 1980's was still available and for sale in the USA as of last year when I was last down there -

Just because we have none commercially available in Canada does not mean it is not still out there and available in other more open markets like the USA.
