Mauser 95 barrel question

I have a M95 custom hunting rifle in 308. The barrel is 19 inches but I want to put a longer one on. Are there any "take off" barrels that can fit straight on the action? Would calibre difference be an issue? I'm thinking I only need to switch the bolt if I find a cheap barrel with a different calibre. Can you guys see any issues I'm overlooking?

I believe that the 1894 , 1896 and husquavarna 1600 are all are similar enough to interchange .... which would also mean any small ring mauser action barrel would work .

A stock military barrel would screw right on. No need to change the bolt.

Caliber choices would be 6.5x55 and 7mm

Why do you want a longer barrel?

I don't like the look of the stepped barrel. I thought I could overlook it but I guess I'm more of a fussy old bugger than I thought
