I know a guy who wants to change the military stock on his M96 Swede for a modern ( plastic) stock for some reason. It's already tapped on the receiver for a scope and he uses it for hunting only. Anyway I might be able to pick the military stock up from him amd was wondering what would be a fair price to offer him for it??? It's complet with all the metal parts has the cleaning rod , the disc in the stock..etc

This is debatable, but I've bought and sold a few, and $100 would be quite high, even for the complete set, including the handguard and metal fittings. Very special or rare wood (figured walnut, Elm, Maple) and an intact Range Plate would bring $50+ more.

There are just very few sportered M96 and M38 that have the metal untouched that would be candidates for restoration, hence low demand.

Now M94 Carbine stock sets go for $300 and up.....
 
I had a cheap plastic swede stock. it had the pressed in checkering. It was LOUD to carry and felt tupperwarish. The whole thing was like an acoustic instrument the checkering would literally resonat in the void spaces.

I filled the checkering and some of the barrel chanel void spaces with epoxy, sanded the whole thing, bedded it and gave it a paint job. What a diffrence made it quiet the wieght of the stock and bedding epoxy made it feel better and it shot beautifully. I think it cost 40 or 50 bucks.

lots of full dress stocks on flea bay they sell cheap.
 
I got a chance to see the Swede today and if I'm not mistaking it's M38 and not a M96. It was made by Husqvarna 1943 , have a shorter barrel 23-24" ,turned down bolt and the rear sight have the "T" stamped on it , all the numbers seem to match....am I right???
