Mauser 98 22-250 feeding issues

I have a Mauser 98 22-250 with double set triggers and a heavy barrel. It's the lightest trigger I've ever used and it groups great but it feeds like crap. Is there any way to make it feed properly without putting a 270 barrel on the receiver?

The guide rails need to be carefully opened to allow the cartridge case to come up properly.

It would also be a good idea to install a spacer block in the magazine well. That would mean you would also have to find a shorter spring and reprofile the follower.
