Mauser 98 question

I have a RC Mauser 98. I find it curious that the cleaning rods are only 10" long. What is the reason its a short rod? You cant push it through a barrel can you? Wouldn't a rope or chain stuffed in the buttstock have been more useful? How are they actually used to clean a mauser anyhow?

Mine has a threaded male end and a slotted patch end. Did they have adapters?

the rod from another soldiers rifle will screw in to the patch end of your rod ,no adaptor required

If you have the old rifle from the First World War, the cleaning rod is about 50% longer.

Back then, it took only 2 German soldiers to conquer the world.

By the Second War they had learned their lesson, gone to shorter rods so it took 3!
