Hey boys,

I just bought a M954 Brazilian Mauser in 30-06 yesterday. Its in great shape but I was concerned about something being problematic with excess pressures and such. I found this tidbit online

Brazilian Rifles in .30/06 are proper 30/06 USA specification chambered and rifled barrels, done by the Brazilian Arsenal at Itajuba; NO use of ".312" bullets in Brazilian M954.30 or M1908/34-.30 if you don't want excessive pressures.

How do I know what a".312" bullet is if I just buy factory ammo? What are the "excess" presured ammo to avoid??

HELP!

Don't worry about it. Any .30-06 ammunition you obtain will have the proper .308" diameter bullets. I suspect that this reference might be to other South American Mauser rifles that were originally chambered for 7.65mm Mauser, and subsequently rechambered to .30-06. These rifles could use .311/.312 bullets, their bore size being slightly larger.
