I'm qualified for my restricted liscense, I just haven't submitted the paperwork yet. I'd like the buy a broomhandle pistol in almost any calibre or configuration as my first restricted, as I don't plan on having many and I just think this is an interesting style of handgun to won and shoot.

WHere in Canada are these sold? I remember finding a site that had six or so listed but have since lost it.

What is it important to look for in a shooter?

.. "LEVER ARMS" in Vancouver had some awhile ago. No idea as to the condition or otherwise, let alone if there are still some available. I would very strongly urge you to have any that you intend to actually shoot, throughly checked by a Gunsmith, and replace any weak or even suspect springs etc. before attempting to fire it ! ... Checked their website, all sold out, to bad I wanted one. If you get one get it checked, also I hear you should replace the lugs before using and don't use Tork ammo in it.

they aint cheap if you want a shooter....and most are in 7.63 mauser NOT 7.62 Tokarev

"...$700.00 for it..." That's cheap. The last one I saw, in a shop, was in mediocre condition with $1100 on it and that was eons ago.

Skippy,

I make it my common practise to replace all three springs in the pistol. (as these springs will be at least as old as the pistol, 70+ years)
Also have a gunsmith inspect the bolt stop for any wear and check it for cracking. If the bolt stop breaks when firing, you'll end up wearing the bolt between your eyes.
Check the barrel condition as many will be shot out. Examine the barrel for any bulges or imperfections. It is not recommended that you use 7.62 tok ammo in these. Stick to 7.63 mauser only. (unless you find a Red 9, like Pistol Pete's)

Best of luck on your quest.

Give them a call or check their website. I think it was a Spanish Astra copy of the C96 they were selling.

I bought the last one at Lever. It is grimy and needs an inspection. Any recommended gunsmiths? (I haven't approached Jason in Ottawa yet.)

Yea I saw that Williams one in real life and the reblue wasn't even particularly well done. I wasn't impressed by the overall look of that gun.
