Mauser experts needed!!!

I got this 8mm Mauser a couple of years ago, but don't know anything about it as to type or age. The only markings on it is the 2 digit serial number. Any info would be appreciated.

Judging by the 3rd photo, looks like a small ring 98a that's been sporterized. The barrel is probably the original military barrel. It was quite common for German gunsmiths to use surplus Mauser actions to build sporters, just as it is today, and the 98a was a popular conversion because it was lighter, and the barrel didn't have the usual Mauser stepped contour. Looks like the backsight has been removed when the peep was installed, probably when it made the trip overseas. The trigger gaurd assembly is not original to the action, and it was likely replaced to accomodate the set triggers.
