I.G. 1871/84 - infanterie gewehr 1871/84 that has been modified. caliber should be 43 mauser.

It's so old and obsolete it isn't classified as a firearm, if the bore is good it has some value to a shooter who has brass and reloads...

The rifle appears to be a repeater not a single shot so its classified as a firearm.

I would say value is around $150 as its been bubbad.

Cheers.

Thanks guys any idea why theres 1887 on it? Plus any idea of a value on it?

It is a model Mauser 71/84, like has been said. The original Mauser 71 was very similar except a single shot, it was redesigned and came out in 1884 as a tube magazine repeater. It was the standard infantry rifle of Prussia, later Germany. Yours was manufactured in 1887. Yours originally had a longer barrel and mag. tube and the wood extended all the way to the end of the barrel. Having been cut down and modified, as many were, the original was long and weighed over 11 lbs. Value in my area, maybe $125. Still classed as a firearm due to the fact that it is a centerfire repeater.
