I have just acquired this mauser as part of a small collection and I am trying to identify it, any help would be appreciated.

Yes, it is an Air Force model as evidenced by the EA serial prefix and the "wings" cartouche on the receiver ring but it's not an M44 (the short carbine version).

these were made at Oviedo and have a reputation for less than ideal metallurgy. Seems to be a high incidence of bolt lug setback with even the issue 8mm ammo. they are generally encountered with matching numbers in VG or better condition.

If you decide to shoot it, get it headspace checked first. Many are out of spec.
