I never knew these existed until I found one at a gun shaw. You see a lot of Gevarms around, I've had a couple but sold them as I couldn't get it to work right. Either way, although I lost patience with it. I've always thought the design was mechanically interesting, and very unique... then I find a Mauser Model 105. Internally, just like a Gevarm! First thing I noticed was that it uses a similar bolt face as a Gevarm rifle. The vertical milled line that strikes 2 sides of a rimfire cartridge simultaneously. Long story short very interesting .22! An open bolt design, and made by Mauser! I'm interested to hear what other people think of them. Do you have one? They must be a bit hard to find in Canada?

Picture I posted is not my rifle, just an example from google.

That is a interesting gun, I would not pay a bunch of money, But all the open bolts I have shot have always worked fine, But what I don't like is all the mass moving when you are trying to hold a sight picture.
If there was a problem with the gevarms, I would think a weak spring or rough bolt or frame.

Well i stand corrected. I was probably confused because most open bolt end up as converted auto

No, I think you've got it mixed up with US BATF regs. I think there might be an exception for the Gevarms though. I'd have to rewatch the Forgotten Weapons video on it to check

They're not letting any more into the country, but the ones already there are sort of "grandfathered". Supposedly because it's easy to convert to full auto, but what the actual point of that would be I don't know.

Tradex still brings in the odd Gevarm and Voere, they are still coming in through them from Europe.

Fun.

Fun would be the point of a full auto .22

Also, one day, the gophers will mass, and decide to take the fields by force. When that happens, all that will stand between us and the gopherpocalypse, are a few brave souls and their Gevarms with the secondary sere filed off.

Lol!

And yeah I guess it would be kind of fun, but how much fun with a 15 round mag? I saw some legally registered, transferable full auto Voere rifles for $4,000+. I’m assuming full auto only..... I think I’d save up for something better if I was a U.S. citizen.

The americans aren't letting any more into the U.S.

Damn Mericans...lol.
Other then the cool factor, open bolt 22's are kind of useless, slow lock time and bolt mass don't lend themselves to accuracy.
They are cheaper to manufacture, but the retail on these when new was always too high.
I'd still buy one to try, but I'm sure I'd dump it shortly after.

That's where I am too. That and wondering how I'd extract a FTF - I don't know about the Voere, but IIRC, the Gevarms don't have an extractor - the blowback pushes the case out while cycling the bolt

A failure to fire?? Take out the mag, and re-#### the rifle.... if that doesn’t work you need a knife blade. But the cool thing is about these rifles and gevarms. There’s a vertical line milled onto the bolt face which double strikes both sides of the cartridge. Reducing the chance of a failure to fire.

At well over 1000 rounds per minute even with the rare 20 rnd mag the fun only lasts a couple of seconds
