My buddy just picked up a 7mm Rem mag in what they told him was a remingtom model 700 ADL but it really turned out to be a Mauser Model 2000! I was just curious what the value of this gun is and how many are around ? This is the first time I have heard of one. He picked up the rifle with a scope and the same box of shells that the original owner bought with it for $350 . Is this a good deal or not ?

Last time I saw one in a store it was worth a great deal more than the $350 buddy paid for it.

Personally though, I'd rather have a 700 ADL that that Mauser.

yes - a good deal if you like 7 mm mag.

They were made in 1972 ish by Heym for mauser when everyone was trying to cut costs> They usually have no checkering, stocks that reflect that 1970 rackish look, aluminum front sights and floor plate and bottom metal. the upper metal is very well built with an excellent push feed smooth bolt and very well built and the trigger is very excellent -crisp and adjustable.
The Mauser banner on the top and bolt housing is way cool as is the Oberndorf writing on the side. The good part to some of my friends is that they did regulaly come in left handed actions - a very good platform for any rebuild for those people.

Like many of the Heym rifles they have thin, light bbls that do not lend themselves to sustained shooting. But first couple of shots at least are very accurate.

Relatively rare in Canada - they were not expensive at the time - today I say about $6-800 depending on caliber etc.

I would have one of these or the model 3000 any day over a Remington.

They are generally very accurate with the correct load and excellent rifles.

I have one in 7X57, bought off the EE from a respected board member. As mentioned above, they were actually made by Heym. Strangely, they are a push feed rifle, being sold under the Mauser banner.
I've seen a few for sale over the last little while, I'd say their value is more like 5-600$.
