Trainer. I meant to say .22 trainer.

Finally took my new (to me) MAS 45 .22 to the range today and it groups wonderfully at 25 and 50 yards when it shoots.

The bolt and action are identical to the DSM 34 mini Mauser German training .22 rifle.

Problem is it doesn't fire every time. The rims of the cartridges get an indent, but don't go off.

It happened numerous times. Is the firing pin spring weak do you think?

I thought perhaps the cocking piece was hanging up on the trigger guard screw as it projects a bit though the guide channel, so I backed that off and it still misfired.

Plus it won't extract the empties when I open the bolt.

Sometimes they stay right in the chamber and when it does extract it just weakly drops them onto the magazine, and does not flip them out like it should.

What do you think is the problem?

If it is a military trainer and older than 30 years ,the bolt may be full of hardened cosmoline , grease and/or powder residue. Disassemble and clean or if you don't know how to disassemble, blast it real good with carburetor cleaner or rusty duck or one of the other aerosol gun cleaners , then oil. Do before you try repairing or replacing hard to find parts. IT MIGHT HELP.
