I have a turkish Mauser model 98 adn was wondering if the trigger could be changed out. It has alot of creep and has had a ton of shooting done on it so I wanted to know if it can be replaced with something else , rebuild kit, any options?? The gun shots very well and I have plans for it but the trigger issue needs to be resolved.

I believe the Boyd's OP98 will work on the Turk. You have your choice of just trigger or one with a side safety attached. If you choose the side-safety model, minor stock inletting will have to be done for the safety to fit.
Good trigger and adjustable as well.

Well I have a timney on the way so I am going to install and adjust that. I am sure I will be more than happy with it. Then a range report done NOB style. Gun shoots well but that huge trigger creep and it was a bit inconsistant as far as pull weight. It is an old gun but she shot well before so I just want a nice medium range shooter.

Get a Timney for sure!

I think the one you want is the Timney Sportsman, part number #102. They show a different part number #101 for the FN Mauser. All the other K98's, should be #102. I just got off the phone with them, as I accidently ordered a #101 for my Zastava M98 online yesterday.
The girl said #102 was the correct trigger for all M98's other than the FN. Interarms X, Charles Daly, Rem 798 all take the #102. They were able to correct my order before it was shipped....:)
Really looking forward to getting it as the creep on the original trigger is.....about a foot long.

MIne just showed up in the mail!!!!!!! I am gonna get it setup and shoot the heck out of her this weekend to set the scope up and make sure the trigger is short and crisp. It was already a pretty tight shooter doing 3 shot group at 100 yards at 2 inch or less but that creep is a battle. I am hoping to shrink that or be sub 4 inch at 200 with scope. Man for the amount of play the bolt has when open and the trigger she is a good girl. I have the ATI stock with builtin scope mount so we will see what she can do. I will post up, unless I suck......:D

Drewz, great action! Let us know how the trigger fits!

Just looking at the Timney listings, I do wonder if the #102 will fit the Rem 798.... The 798 has a sliding side safety beside the bolt head.

Well the trigger went on easier than I thought. I just used a small tipped screw driver and tapped it with a hamer and the pin almost shot out. I adjusted the trigger for LOP, travel stop, forward stop. I installed the receiver assembly into the stock and put it all together, I am using the ATI stock with integrated top scope rail. Well the trigger pul is short but dragged. I took a look and the trigger guard is thicker in the middle than the sides and the trigger was sitting on it. I took a piece of 220 grit sand paper, wraped that around a piece of copper plumbing pipe, and proceeded to flatten the inside of the trigger guard in the center. I have maybe a few sheets of paper thickness from the bottom of the trigger to the guard now and she functions just fine. Also in the pic you will notice a snaded area to clear the bent bolt. The bolt would not lock down which means the gun won't fire so I dremeled that to thin it out and then polished it up with 220 paper again. The gun is getting a texture coat of black once finished so I am not concerned about the mods. PICS!!!!!!
