Mauser's Gewehr 43 prototype: the Gewehr 41(M)

Not really a g43 prototype. It's Mauser oberndorfs response to the request for a self loading rifle. They actually stick to the requirement better then walther did, but as such had less success. The g41(w) is the predecessor to the 43, but again was not a prototype but a production gun using the requirement set out by the Army. They are both neat guns but kind of ugly. Lol

One sold a few years ago at a Wards auction, well both a G41(M) and (W). Both all matching, the (M) sold for around $8000 I think it was, plus a 20% buyers fee over the internet

collectors source had one not to long ago. very cool. i think mostly the SS and police units used them??

There are certain types that were Thought to be SS issue.
But not all that's for sure.

The g41w sold at auction last year had a sanded and contoured stock sadly.
The g41M was legit.

The G41(M) was far too complex and over engineered, extremely time consuming to produce and had it's share of functional problems on the battlefield.

A guy I know had a Gewher 41(M) bring back inherited from his father in law. (even had the original sling). He ended up selling it to a gun dealer for $6500, which I personally felt was on the low side.

In Canada I think that's pretty fair. When selling to a gun dealer you need to expect him to make a profit. And how many collectors are looking for. $7500+ G41M and then taxes.

Pawnstars - 90% for them, 10% (Or Less) for you

And they all really need to start eating the Subway diet, except for Rick's Dad, in the worst kind of way.

If you pay attention to how the weapons works as explained by Ian, you'll note a rather fatal flaw: the bolt mechanism only moves the working parts when the rifle is completely locked in battery.

...so, if you had a malfunction that held the bolt open half way (FTF, for example) you would need to open the action cover to remedy it as the bolt handle wouldn't do anything for you. I normally don't believe the while 'this weapon was so bad soldiers threw it away' thing (XM16E1 in Vietnam for example) but in this case it wouldn't surprise me.
