So, looking for an inexpensive shotgun. I really can't find a comparison between my 2 main choices, the Maverick 88 and the Norinco YL-12. Looking for opinions, personally I'm leaning towards the the 88 security but haven't really heard anything bad about the YL-12.

Seems to me it would be for Tactical as OP wants the Security model 88. I had the hunting model 88. Was good for what it was. An inexpensive, reliable, pump action shotgun. The thing just worked worked and worked. I eventually could afford a much nicer shotgun so I gifted the 88 to my brother who also loved it for a couple of years until he could also afford a much nicer shotgun. We both run over/unders as there is no pump action shotgun that comes close to being as comfortable, compact, and as quick as a good old break action shotgun. Problem is, you have to spend about $1000 to get a decent over/under or side/side or you can spend $200 on a 88 and have a good reliable shotgun. Doesn't wholesale sports have a sale on the 88 Security combo right now? Comes with stock and pistol grip for $200. It was only 5 years ago I got my 88 and it was for sale for $180 without a sale. Prices sure are rising fast. I've never even heard of the Norinco YL-12 so I have no idea what its like.

Go with the 88, you can get it fixed, if need be. I have used one for a few years and it stood up to salt water etc
