This rifle is not suitable for shooting military ammunition, which is cheaper. It always jams and causes problems remain stock in chamber!
I do not recommend it, as it is not reliable or worth the price.
I tried five different types of ammo and they all got stuck in the chamber!
I contacted the seller to explain the problem, he said normal she finiky on ammo!

Juste want you know before purchase!
Have a nice day!

Sounds like a possible extractor issue. Did you look into that? I have about 2500 rounds through mine (renegade) of various steel core and brass, and never had an issue.

Sent back to the seller for check up! then get back to me whit the same probleme!
He said cycle good whit the good ammo after perfom test !
I do a call phone phone, said to me the rifle Dont cycle surplus ammo steel case!

But that won'T cycle also brass stock in chember!
Very desapointed service and rifle! Victoria ridge sport Ryan!

Not recomended!

I've wanted to buy a Maverick receiver set and build up a .338federal bush gun.
Pretty much have all the parts to do it but have been waiting for more reviews
Sticky chambers in the .308 models seem to be the only gripe so far.
It does make me a bit hesitant to drop the coin and do the build.

would love to hear from other Maverick owners or custom build owners before I make the plunge.
Thier is a good thread going for the renegade but can't seem to find the Maverick discussions/reviews.

Try swapping the bolt/extractor. I've probably put more surplus/steel core than brass through my Renegade without any issue other than having to yank the charging handle back a little harder with the steel core stuff compared to brass.

Looking at possibly buying a Maverick for the nephew. Wants it for his first deer gun. Found a stock barely used one, MRA built, 12.5” barrel. With quality brass ammo, no issues for most people?

I shot a deer with mine last year. MRA built 16" barrel using Winchester powermax bonded. The only other ammo I used was Hirtenberger. No issues with either.

Hirtenberger is pretty hot ammo. I had poor extraction in the Maverick and a Troy PAR. I pulled 20 rounds, reduced the powder load and put the rounds back together. No problems after that, except I have a case of 720 rounds. Perhaps a winter project.

Thanks guys. I have played with a Troy pump back in the day. Never found the action to be particularly smooth.
