Since the rules in the north dont seem to be as strict as in southern Canada I am a bit unfamiliar with the actual laws regarding this matter. Someone (a cop actually) told me today that in southern Canada, esp. Ontario that there is a max. mag capacity for rimfire guns. He mentioned 10 rnds. Is this true?? Id find this hard to believe after seeing all of these 10/22s with their 25 rnd clips. Being in the north it really doesnt matter to me but Id like to know for when I do travel to Montreal. I dont want to get in #### at some range just because of my 22. Thanks.

No; rimfires are specifically exempted from the mag capacity BS, no matter where you are in the country. You can have a 22 LR mag (or any OTHER rimfire calibre) that holds 5, 10, 50, 100, 1000, or more, if you can find one.

Many police officers actually don't know firearm laws all that well. Firearms to many police officers are just things/equipment that go with the job.
Like trying to explain to your wife or mom what a 92FS is.

Of course the Officers that visit this site are the exception heheh :D

The only rimfire magazine capacity restrictions are for 22 pistols and they are limited to 10 rounds. Rimfire rifles have no capacity limits. All semiauto handguns are limited to 10 rounds whether rimfire or centerfire.

Just be a nice guy and by a brass catcher for your .22 rifle if you are going to be loading a box of ammo in an UBER mag. :D
