Max. pressure H&R Buff. Classic?

HOWDY , Look under the Marlin rifle site for a contact.
Generaly I have loaded the short barrell NE up to the same pressure as my marlin rifle in 45/70. BUT NEVER to the hot loads that are for a ruger single shot no.1
There is often three levels of loads . Trap Door types, low pressure , Marlin ,middle level and them Ruger HOT loads.
Check the Layman reloading manuals.

Not that I have checked with NEF, but I load my NEF Handi rifle to the Ruger #1 values without any signs of pressure. Kicks like a mule. Would probabily be best to write the manufacturer.

I tried to ask them a couple of years ago for max loading info for my h&r whitetails edition 45/70 they wont tell you sweet f all

I have seen an NEF start to open and give case thrust issues at these pressures. Be careful with the .45/70, it has a lot more casehead area than the smaller rounds these are loaded to high pressure in. I wouldn't go near the Ruger loads in one and I've owned and loaded a mess of .45/70s including at least three or four NEFs. They once replied to a letter I sent them saying not to handload their rifles. I've seen articled saying to not pass Marlin level .45/70 loads. I completely agree with that.

"...they wont tell you sweet f all..." Not surprising given the frivolous U.S. lawsuits. They'll CYA themselves every time.
"...not to handload their rifles..." SA Inc. says the same thing about the M1A.

Thanks for the advice folks. I didn't expect to be able to use the Ruger loads. I just wasn't sure if I could use the Marlin data. It's a fun caliber to play with.

And a nice rifle to carry and use, and with Marlin loads, it's quite the little powerhouse too.
A buddy rechambered one to .450 NE or .45 3 1/4" basic, whatever you want to call it, but it didn't work out so well.
I did get a letter back from NEF. I sent and received it through snail mail, but that was about ten years ago.

HOWDY . My cousin in NS shot a little deer with his NE 45/70 up close . The boiled hoofs were not all that tastey.
Load The H&R the way it is SUPPOSED to be loaded , with about 70 grains of balck and a good round nosed or flat nosed cast bullet and forget about the pressures, and don't worry about damaged meat either.
Oh, ya , and it will kill BIG TIME!!:D
