Maximum detachable magazine for a bolt gun

Just got a Ruger American that takes the AR mags. What is the maximum legal capacity magazine I can get and use?

It's an AR mag. Doesn't mater what you use it in.
5 round rifle mag or 10 round 'pistol' mag.
