Maximum Ordinance

I learned something today. I always though that the mid flight trajectory would be the highest part of the arc in a sighted in distance. I was at Rimfire Central and came across a discussion about Maximum Ordinance. I found this very interesting and thought I would share. Note that the pic isn't to scale, it is just an example.

makes sense to me. for the highest point to be the middle of the distance it would have to have the same speed all the way to the end, or equal speeds at mirror distances, neither of which is possible.
