May be picking up this Enfield, what can you tell me about this. 2 of 2

I have a buddy who has a couple of older Enfields for sale.
Before I buy them what can you tell me about them.
Any assistance, information is appreciated.
I want to be fair with him, he is my buddy.

Does it say "Longbranch" on the receiver?

If not and the bolt and receiver have matching serial numbers..~$600

Looked at the close-ups on photo-bucket.

1944 Longbranch.
1947 FTR (for "Factory Thorough Reconditioned" ) by "F" ??? Fazakerly maybe? Not sure.

Looks to be nice, in good condition, with "matching" (probably force matched after refurb) numbers.

The sling is un upside down. The open part of the C in the sling should be on the outside of the sling so it doesn't scratch the wood.

It does say 1944 Longbranch. I believe you right about the factory refurbished Fazakerly. I will check the serial number later today.

I checked the bolt and receiver band and the numbers match. Besides longbranch 1944 it also is stamped FZR 47.
The serial number is 81L1095. I hope that helps the experts.

Sounds very much like a Longbranch wartime production that went overseas, got used, and then refurbed after the war at Fazakerly -which was a whole interesting "make work" project. They didn't really need extra Enfields for refurb, but they didn't have much for the boys at Fazakerly to do at that exact moment. They DID want to keep Fazakerly open and running, with the Cold War looming, so they got them refurbing Enfields to keep idle hands busy while they figured out what they were going to do for a modern service rifle.

My guesstimate for pricing still stands.
