May Have Bought The Last 30" Flanigun In Canada

Got home last night with a package sitting by the door. Inside was a Winchester Flanigun 30" barrel and I think I might have bought the last one in the country. I had phoned a number of dealers, got online, and visited a few of the local gun stores, no one had any of these in stock (a few 28" barrels around) and Winchester wholesale in Canada didn't have any around, as the Flanigun has been discontinued (I suspect because Patrick Flannigan has moved over to Mossberg). They might have one more final shipment in a couple of months but that didn't sound definitive.

Anyway, I managed to track one down, 3 days of phoning finally got me thru to the right dept. and I got the shotgun I wanted.

Anyway, opened the case and there it was, beautiful. Everything in the case as per Winchester brochures, put it together, hefted it to shoulder and it lined right up, so I'm pretty stoked about taking it out to the trap range as soon as some decent weather shows up. Of course, I sat down and read the manual cover to cover and have now got to get the factory rust proofing stuff of the gun, reassemble and head on out.

I'm looking forward to finding out what kind POI is with the different chokes and then shooting some clays.

You might find that what Choke Tube you use may have little to do with your POI. I presume it will be a fairly flat shooter.

A buddy of mine has one and I shoot it quite a bit and really like it for skeet and sporting targets. I also works well for trap, but I would choose something different for a dedicated trap gun. Unless you are really slow, the modified choke will work well for 16 yards and the IM will break them well from 25. Very nice gun.

That red gun may get you a bit of razzing, so I hope you can tell them that a good shooter can shoot any dam color he wants:D

That's Why I Bought

Red will definitely stand out, but the other factor was I wanted a 30" barrel and the Flanigun was the only Winny that had that length of barrel. And I can give as good as I get.

Re: a trap gun, I've shot quite a few trap guns over the years and wanted a semi which would be lighter and produce less recoil. Want I get this baby out on the range, I will know for sure if it's a keeper.
