Almost two thirds thru the month & no one put up a "May Purchases" thread yet!

Just picked this up as an early Father's Day gift for my Dad. As a young man he served with the US Army in Germany in the period just after WWII. He will be 82 this year & was recently in Hawaii. While there he visited Pearl Harbour and a small private WWII museum in Honolulu. When he got back he said he was thinking of picking up a WWII US infantry helmet to have.

Not original finish, but somewhat 'restored', it came with the custom stand with the US 2nd Armoured Division badge. I think Dad will like it.

Hi Marcus, I'm sure your father as a previous G.I. will love the M1 helmet! Congrats, I love the look of these helmets.

Imagine all the cool milsurp stuff he must have seen in Germany after the war!

This is an awesome present!! Your dad will love it.
I got this helmet in May. M42 Single decal Heer helmet. All original except chinstrap and string.

Early May Purchase

Purchased this original Czech Issue vz.24 holster in early May. It has three or four ink stamps on the inside flap:

Czech military acceptance stamp - the Lion of Bohemia.
Date stamp - 1926.
Two unidentified stamps - possibly manufacturers stamps.

Plus there is one embossed stamp: '5A' which I'm assuming is a detachment or depot stamp.

New (to me) 10-1918 (barrel date) M1917, Eddystone Mfgr, from Jean at P&S. It was still gooped in cosmolene from military storage when it arrived (good thing).

It has been issued, but not overly abused. Bore is nice.

I picked up a very uncommon milsurp from a customer yesterday.

Not a milsurp, you say? Look closer!

It's actually a Garate El Tigre rifle in .44-40 made for the Spanish Civil Guard and various police organizations, and widely used in the Spanish Civil War. Almost an exact copy of a Winchester 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine, but with the rifle style sights and sling swivels. This one is unfortunately missing the front swivel and the front of the barrel is refinished over pitting, but I paid a very low price for it!

That's got to be the most interesting SCW rifle I've ever seen. Two milsurp levers, now your Russian Winchester '95 musket won't feel so lonely. ;)

Month's almost done, better get 'em in while I still can...

WW2 British canteen issued to a Polish soldier in Italy.

WW2 MK II shell - this one was a freebie.

Don't get too excited Joe. The marking is a Polish Eagle but its a stencil not the real thing. And its missing its liner - just a shell. But it was free and needed for my display.

Seller vouched for it. He's a Polish militaria collector specializing in the Polish 2nd Corps, and a moderator on another forum. I'm taking his word for it.

Aren't you missing a safety on that MLM MkII? (J/K unless it's a MkII*)

I love the look of those old Lithgows, but after they stopped using the pins all the way through the draws, I'm always leery to shoot them, I've seen even well-cared for stocks split form time to time. Heartbreaking.
